rainy day+left hand turns+me at the wheel = near deadly combo.
Seriously, this is the second time that it's been rainy, I've been turning left and I almost get into an accident. Today was scary because I thought I could make it but then my wheels started spinning out and obviously I wasn't going anywhere but was in the middle of the intersection and this little white car is barrelling toward me. I was totally hyped up on adrenaline and eventually got out of the intersection but was the recipient of a long, loud honk. Honestly, if my wheels hadn't spun out I would have safely made it.
After I turned, though, I was pretty freaked. At least this time I didn't have Noah with me.
I'm not a bad driver, honestly!

dreaming of warts
I had a dream that my plantar warts came back on my foot. There was a lot of them and I could have cried. When I woke up I felt so relieved.
Be gone, warty dreams!

missing out
There's a part of me that is slightly disappointed in myself. For not being more easy going, for not doing everything and anything, whirling around, driving from this social event to tha one...as a Mom.
I thought I'd be able to be the same person, do the same things, commit to anything and everything. But I'm not and I don't and I can't.
The part of me that is commited to keeping my sanity is perfectly and resiliently fine with not being able to do the things I could before. The Mom part of me knows that there isn't anything more valuable and rewarding than staying at home with Noah.
But the old me...the traveller, social butterfly, do what I want, when I want me...still grieves a teeny tiny bit that life has changed like it has.
BUT
I think that's normal.
Still...I definitely compare myself to other Moms who appear to be getting on with life as usual. I compare myself to other women (married, single...it doesn't matter). How I look (I should be skinnier), what I do (I should be willing to cart around Noah to whatever, wherever - or heck, just get a babysitter all the time)...it's not all the time. It's not even a large percentage of the time. It's a teeny, tiny, itty bitty little part of me that sometimes whispers to me that I'm missing out.
But I'm not.
I'm actually doing the one thing that NO ONE else in the world could do. Be a Mom to Noah.
And I do love and cherish it.
It's pretty amazing.

vampires, anyone?
I don't think I've come clean yet about my latest reading obsession.
I was ravenously reading (are you ready?) a vampire love story quadrology (what is a 4 part book series called?). For teens. At least according to the library filing system.
I'm not usually one for vampires, werewolfs or any other kind of horror/scary type movies or books but this wasn't actually scary.
When I borrowed the book from the library I had no idea what it was about. I just knew that it was a best seller on amazon.ca so I requested it and when I finally got it (I think I was like...number 49 on the list) I just started reading it.
I whipped through the last book with a whopping 700+ pages. I think I liked it so much because the emotions were quite raw and real (do you remember what it felt like to be in love when you were 17?) and it took me back to my days of reading fantasy novels. Plus it was light reading and that just happened to be what I was looking for.
So I'm finished and I'm sad that it's all over.
If you're interested, the series is by Stephanie Meyer and can be found here.

Colour Genius
I found this cool test that tests your "Colour IQ". Take the test here. I scored 3. With a score of zero being the best and 99 being the worst (I think).
Not too shabby I think. :)

iTunes
I recently reformatted my computer and now am in the process of redoing my iTunes.
I have 60 Coldplay songs on my iPod.
33 Dashboard Confessional songs. (Maybe I am emo afterall. Who knew?)
Over 30 Feist songs.
36 John Mayer ditties.
2 songs by Muse.
1 by The Strokes (Reptilia).
26 by The Killers and 26 by Miles Davis.
And I just bought the Red Album by Weezer.
Oh iTunes. So dangerously amazing.
Oh and mad props (did I just date myself by saying that, or is that still said?) to iTunes Genius. LOVE it.
But I'll never buy a Mac.
The End.

annoyed
Grr. I just spent 5 minutes at the door being given a spiel from a salesman about a phone/internet service. These people ARE persistent and I actually feel annoyed and a bit angry. Twice he asked for my name as he pulled out his clipboard to sign me up for the service after I had already told him that I wasn't prepared to make a decision right now and especially without my husband there OR before looking over my bills and what I pay + what they're offering including the small print. Who really does that anyway? I am so annoyed at the gall he had to just go ahead and try and bowl me over without considering what I had JUST TOLD HIM.
So annoyed.
So annoyed.

no biting!
I just saw this for the first time. Apparently it was pretty big on YouTube and in the UK as well (They had the family on a morning TV show). It's so cute and hilarious.
temperment and seasons
I do NOT like hot and humid days like today. I become cranky and short-tempered. I know I shouldn't let weather determine my mood, but with a cranky baby today...it was hard not to let it get to me.
Whatever happened to the gorgeous slightly coolish fall weather we were having? I miss it already.
I must say, autumn is quite possibly my favourite season. I'm too tired to write about why. I'll just leave it at that.

gone bad
My stomach feels funny and my mouth has a bad taste in it. I think the milk in my cereal was bad.

new purse!
I decided I need a new "every day" purse. You know, the default purse. The one you keep all your stuff in and can grab as you head out the door.
I had been using this canvasy type one that I bought at Walmart (woot) but I was kinda getting sick of it. And I think I need a more grown up one.
So I got this one today - and I LURVE it.

respect for the dead

On our drive home today from Brockville back to Guelph, Jamie and I noticed that every single bridge along the 401 was filled with Canadian flags, people waving flags, Ambulances, Firetrucks, cop cars all with lights flashing. We were so confused. What was going on? What are they all standing there for? How did someone co-ordinate something so massive that so many people would support it? It started around Trenton and continued to just the east side of Toronto (that's a LOT of bridges/overpasses). Jamie called his Dad to find out what was going on. His Dad said that the hearse with the soldiers who had died in Afghanistan was behind us. Everything made sense and clicked. We honked and waved as we went under every underpass to show our mutual support.
I was actually really moved and touched by this display of support by literally hundreds and hundreds of civilians, cops and other soldiers. People had parked on the side of the highway with TImmy's in hand, waiting for the processional to show their support and respect for the dead. Jamie and I said that if we didn't have a rather grumpy baby in the backseat we would have pulled over and joined the crowds.
It was pretty amazing.

sweet deal
I picked up the cutest shoes EVER. Seriously. For Noah. I've wanted to get Noah a pair of tiny converse for a REALLY long time. Probably before he was born. And I got them. And they fit perfectly (too bad, I was actually hoping they'd be a tiny bit big so they'd last longer). It's so adorable. Actually, I got a pretty sweet deal on them (I think). I was browsing online for baby converse high tops when I came upon the Soft Moc website. I "ordered" them but got to the payment page and then decided to opt out of them. I got an email later that day from the President or someone of Soft Moc and they gave me a 10% off code because they noticed I didn't actually go through with the purchase. So I went ahead and got my cutie patootie converse shoes at 10% off. Sweet deal!

bike
Today was the second day in a row that I've gone for a long walk at the park by the river with Noah.
It's also the second time I noticed this bike leaning against a tree. Who left it there? Why? Did something happen to them that they had to abandon this bike? There's a story behind it and I want to know what it is!

Nick & Norah
I cannot tell you how much I want to see Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. I JUST saw the trailer on tv and it excites me in so many ways!
First, it's got Michael Cera (from Juno) and he's just as adorable as he was in Juno.
Second, the girl (Norah) in the movie looks quirky and likeable and ...
I just wanna see it!
October 3rd! Yah!
