monday was the day before noah's birthday. it was the morning. i had just finished reading a story to the boys which involved some friends making cinnamon rolls.
noah asked me if we could make cinnamon rolls.
i said yes.
and then we ate them for lunch.

tuesday was noah's birthday. i said yes to a lot of things. including hugs, smiles, kisses, sugar, bike riding, skyping, and lots of laughing.

wednesday i said yes to creativity and googly eyes and 2 hours of playing with homemade play doh.

thursday i said yes to getting a cracked tooth fixed and a cavity filled here in uganda. it's gorgeous. and it was 1/3 of the price of what i would have paid in canada.

friday i said yes to cuddling on the couch and watching a movie while the rain poured down.

today i said yes to socks in mud puddles and warm bubble baths.

who knows what i'll say yes to tomorrow!

  1. Awwww, that's fantastic! I love saying YES to random things... and even socks in mud :) but the bubbley baths are tops!!
    Happy days...say yes..and me too!

  2. You are a YES MOM haha I love it :)
Especially the socks in mud, googly eyes and bubble baths in blue bins hehe you could make a Dr. Seuss book with this material ;)

  3. Oh dear...I totally missed the part about YES to getting a cracked tooth fixed :( but glad it's done and for less! xoxo

  4. i think you should say "yes" to these if you ever have the energy to do homemade pumpkin again:

    love ya!

  5. this is one of my favourite posts Ms V.
learning to say yes more often = a life of adventure :)

  6. Hi! Please email me! I have a question about your blog :)

  7. Is this going hand in hand with your gratitude journal? It sounds relative. I miss you. I can't believe how much you've changed since you first had Noah. Not changed, that has a negative feel, MATURED, not that you weren't, I'm digging here, I think its great how you've grown. It makes me think there's hope for me yet! (AHA! I KNEW there was a positive before I started typing this!). Good news about the tooth! Love ya Baness.

  8. Hey Vanessa,

I was catching up on your blog today and I just wanted to tell you how much you inspire me. Your posts bring me to tears, probably because of your open honesty and your intense love for your family. I can only hope one day I will be able to express love so tangibly. I am SO happy to read that you are doing so well and that you are making such a beautiful life for your family. And I've been meaning to tell you for a while now that I really miss you. Probably sounds strange since we only spent hours together, but I can honestly say I don't know anyone quite like you. You look for the best in everyone and you try to live each moment to its fullest. You laugh easily and don't take yourself to seriously. Those few times with you were a breath of fresh air and I want to thank you for that. Blessings to you and your family and a happy belated birthday! Love Jen

  9. Jen,
Thanks for the comment. I miss you too! We really are kindred spirits. I'm sure of it. :)
And I'm glad for those few hours we got to hang out together.
I've thought of you many times over this past week, so we must be on the same brain wave or something.
Miss you and love you too!
(I think Jamie sent you my email. Email me!)

I love hearing from you!
